Polymer Clay spiral earrings
The spirals were the first polymer clay earrings that I have made. They are easy to create and diverse in color and form. In my collection there are meanwhile round, triangular, square tight and wide spirals. Two small ones can be combined and offer plenty of room for creativity.
The preparation of both, the tight and the spirals with space in between, are similar. First the color is selected or a color mixture is prepared. I take two colors and knead the clay until a beautiful grain is produced. After kneading, the mass is formed into a long string which gets divided with a knife. Subsequently the cord is brought into the desired shape and with a toothpick make a hole in the appropriate place.
I put every polymer clay earring on a glass plate and put it in the oven according to manufacturer’s instructions. After the mass is cold, a ring and an ear hook is attached to the spiral.

This article is the first part of a series about my polymer clay earrings, I design for the past several years. Even though I normally do not have a talent with delicate forms, I still love crafting them.
The nice thing about making polymer clay jewelry is that you can to take your time. I often leave the earrings for several days on the glass plate and fill it piece by piece until I finally put it in the oven.
