A photo trip to the Rhine or stones as a background for crocheted items

Grau und bunt eine gehäkelte Blume auf Stein - Gray and colorful a crocheted flower on a stone

An early spring day has encouraged us for a small walk to the river Rhine. We expected to shoot some nature photos and experiment a little. Following a last minute idea I packed two crochet flowers and a tiny crochet covered Stone – who knows whether they might be useful.

Alongside the Rhine is an island of gravel. Large and small stones with fascinating shapes and colors. These stones were chosen as background for my crochet objects and I took some pictures with the new 100 macro lens. The photos were made without flash, and (mostly) with an aperture of 5.0 and a shutter speed of 1/500. We used no tripod as it was enough to stabilize the camera on the knee.

Many of the pictures turned out well. The best I’ve set for this article. They are edited only a little. The cover image isn’t processed at all. I just adjusted the format to postcard DIN 148:105.

  1. What a boon taking your crochet on your walk!! The photos are wonderful!! I have thought I might like a macro lens, but my practical side always kicks in and I don’t get one.
