Overlay Crochet Star Christmas Ornament – a free pattern
This year has gone by quickly, it’s already December. The Advent season has already begun and the annual Decorations are fetched from the basement or from the attic. But you could crochet your own Christmas decoration this year. Here you will find the instructions for a fancy overlay crochet star.
Special about this crochet Star are the two levels. Through the detailed upper layer of the star the lower one shines through. Both are crocheted separately and joined together in the final round. Thus it’s not the classic, made of one piece, complicated overlay crochet technique. My version of the overlay crochet star is easy to crochet and looks really good.
This crocheted Christmas star is filigree and detailed, yet stable and keeps its shape. Therefore, it can be used for a variety of decorations. With pretty ribbons it can shine as a Christmas tree ornament. I glued the star as an embellishment on a small handmade gift and crafted a table decoration. It was really simple: a few dry branches, some wire, rose hips and of course three ovelay crochet stars. As you can see in the slideshow below, the star can also be decorative on a Christmas table.
